New House in the West O

Wow I have not been back here for way too long. I moved in with my mans and my dog. It is super happiness with a little bit of rain. Our new house was broken into after the first week we were here but luckily Lulu held down the fort. They stole our change jar and my digital camera. At first I thought I had misplaced it because we were still unpacking. I still think West Oakland is the Best Oakland.
I miss that camera but it was beat up from so much use.  I have felt lost without it because I take photos of everything that inspires me especially the light the twlight. I finally took some new photos with a borrowed camera.
One great thing about our new place is the yard. I have just started to grow some flowers from seed. Most of the seeds were a gift from a super great lady named Robin.
Here are the first sprouts
IMGP0026 IMGP0025 Timi had a great idea to put some of my old paintings in the backyard and let the flowers grow over them. These flowers came with the house I love them.  We planted some grass and it just started to sprout. It may take a while to plant the whole yard especially since it is the dry season.
I found a grass seed online that is supposed to be drought resistant. I will take more photos as it grows.
I can't believe that it sprouted!
IMGP0008 I started a new painting and I love the light in the house. I feel inspired here and so happy to share a house with Timi and Lulu.

Studio Days

Following the unexpected passing of my dad George Chase RIP my desire to continue to create art is even greater. He was also a great artist. My sister Abby put up a great web site for him for people to share pictures and stories.
Waite for Me It is named after his first sailboat
My step mom also gave me some of his art supplies. I have started to use them.... Here is a shot of my studio today....

Return to Oaktown

I returned home on Sunday night. It was really hard to leave the company of my family. Luckily my sweetheart Timi D was able to fly to NJ last week. The company of my dog Lulu to helps me remember to live in the moment. The loss of my dad is one of the most painful things that I have ever experienced. He loved to crack jokes all the time and he was an amazing artist. Today I am remembering him with these photos even though I look like a super nerd.

For my dad George Chase 1941-2009

Last Wednesday night my sister called me from NJ to let me know that my Dad had been rushed to the hospital. He had a stroke. I stayed by the phone and waited for updates but the news changed from bad to worse. He had been airlifted to a hospital with a special trauma center but they could not do the surgery right away because he was taking blood thinner medicine for his heart. By the time surgery could safely be performed the bleeding was so severe and stroke had become fatal. The last call I got from my sister was to tell me get on the first plane to Jersey possible.I left on Thursday.
I am so grateful that I was able to make it there be with my family and see him one last time.
He passed away on March 13, 2009.

He was a super great father, a very talented artist, an accomplished sailor, a good cook, kind, compassionate and put his heart into everything he did. He was also a teacher both in the classroom and out. He loved to share stories and gave great advise.

Dad I am really gonna miss you. Thank you for everything.

I hope to honor you everyday but you left behind some mighty big shoes to fill.

Rainbows and Sunsets

Today is my birthday and when I took Lulu for a walk first thing this morning I saw a rainbow. It is a good start to the day. I am almost finished with a new painting. I don't have a title yet but it still needs some work too.

Woolgather

I have been working on some new paintings. This one is about 99% finished. I always need to live with a painting that I think is finished for a while longer. I usually have a basic plan when I start a painting and I do a sketch of the composition. I also want to allow for the subconscious to make changes and let it evolve.
This one is called Woolgather. It is about dreams and keeping your dreams in a balloon.

Custom Bag

I finished this bag for an awesome lady. I changed the style to a purse length strap and a smaller size than the Jenna bag. I think I will name this one after her. So here it is the new Tula bag.
